Thank you for your interest in signing up with PADI RTO to complete your Work Health and Safety Course. Completing this online program will help you meet the requirements set out by SafeWork NSW for the relevant competencies for general diving work. Once successfully completed, you will be able to request a Statement of Attainment for BSBWHS211 Contribute to the health and safety of self and others from PADI RTO.

SafeWork NSW has recently announced a new requirement for divers undertaking general diving work for the purposes of recreational diver training or recreational dive tours.

Following the withdrawal of AS/NZS 4005.2, Standards Australia has identically adopted relevant ISO-based recreational dive leader and dive supervisor qualifications. These include:

  • AS ISO 24801.3 Requirements for the training of recreational scuba divers Part 3: Level 3 – Dive leader;
  • AS ISO 24802.1 Requirements for the training of scuba instructors Part 1: Level 1; and
  • AS ISO 24802.2 Requirements for the training of scuba instructors Part 2: Level 2.

Divers undertaking general diving work in New South Wales (NSW) providing paid services to recreational dive customers and using any of the above ISO qualifications, such as PADI Divemasters, PADI Assistant Instructors or PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors must successfully complete and hold a Statement of Attainment for BSBWHS211 Contribute to the health and safety of self and others before the 1st of January 2023.

Listen to Jeff Adams, Senior Inspector Working Environment – SafeWork NSW, talking about the additional requirements for general diving workers in the recreational diving industry.

Diving workers doing general diving work such as hull cleaning, sacrificial anode changes or minor tasks underwater or those undertaking high-risk diving work will need to meet additional requirements.

To work as a PADI Divemaster, PADI Assistant Instructor or PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor in NSW you will need to complete this course to meet the requirements of SafeWork NSW. If you work in any other capacity in the diving industry or in a different state or territory, you may need to meet additional or other requirements.

This course contains four Lessons:
