SISOSCB306A Perform diver rescues

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to perform diver rescues. This includes assessing the situation, practicing search and rescue procedures for a variety of simulated dive incidents and providing treatment if required. Additional competencies, such as the administration of supplemental oxygen, are detailed in other units of competency.


AHCLPW305 Perform diving for scientific purposes

This unit covers the process of scientific diving required to support scientific research, monitoring and inspection roles associated with places or areas of significance and defines the standard required to: plan to carry out a dive; prepare to dive; carry out pre-dive checks; monitor dive conditions; respond to incidents and amend dive procedures if necessary; debrief dive team; store diving equipment.

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to plan and perform an EANx dive under supervision. This unit also focuses on disassembling and maintaining equipment used for EANx dives.


SISOSCB318A Dive in open water using surface supplied air

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to plan and performs a dive using surface supplied air, complete post dive procedures, and act as dive tender during operation. Dives are to be conducted in a recreational context and are not to exceed 18 metres in depth.


SISOSNK403A Instruct snorkelling skills

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to instruct snorkelling skills. This unit focuses on planning, instructing and evaluating instructional snorkelling sessions to enable participants to achieve the skills and knowledge required to participate independently, or with minimal supervision, in a snorkelling activity in confined and or open water conditions.

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to conduct visual inspections of SCUBA cylinders and fill SCUBA diving cylinders. This unit applies to current or aspiring SCUBA dive guides or instructors who are responsible for the maintenance of SCUBA cylinders. This may include those working for private dive schools or companies operating at coastal sites or through holiday resorts.
